Senior SQL Server DBA (Contract)
Duration: 12-month contract (potential to extend/convert)
We’re partnering with a high-impact nonprofit organization to bring on a Senior SQL Server DBA for a project-based engagement focused on upgrading and modernizing their SQL Server environment.
This role is ideal for a senior, hands-on DBA who enjoys working on structured migration and upgrade projects and can operate independently with minimal oversight. This is a wonderful opportunity to support a mission-driven nonprofit.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead SQL Server upgrades and migrations (2014/2016 → 2022) across multiple environments
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances in an on-prem environment
Partner with internal stakeholders and application owners to ensure compatibility and smooth cutovers
Collaborate with a senior internal resource to plan and execute bi-weekly migration sprints
Support backup/recovery strategies and ensure data integrity throughout migrations
Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize configurations as needed
Document migration plans, configurations, and processes
What We’re Looking For
Senior-level experience with SQL Server administration (2014–2022)
Strong background in database migrations and version upgrades
Experience installing and configuring SQL Server
Solid understanding of backup/recovery and database performance tuning
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
