Senior Plant Manager – Chemicals Manufacturing
Gulf Coast Region | Supporting Additional Site near Charlotte, North Carolina
    High-Hazard, Batch Chemical Production | Union & Non-Union Environments
Multi-Billion Dollar Global Leader | Flagship Manufacturing Site

A leading, multi-billion dollar global chemicals manufacturer with a stellar industry reputation is seeking a Senior Plant Manager to lead operations at its flagship high-hazard batch chemical facility near the Gulf Coast. This highly visible plant plays a mission-critical role within the company’s global operations—supplying materials for the aerospace, defense, specialty electronics, and power infrastructure sectors.

This opportunity is open due to a planned retirement, and our client is looking for a proven operations leader with strong union experience, a background in chemical batch manufacturing, and expertise in PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Plan) protocols. In addition to the flagship site (approximately 150 employees, 100 union), the Plant Manager will also provide strategic oversight and support to a smaller, non-union site near Charlotte, NC (about 40 employees).

    Why This Role Stands Out

    • High Visibility: This is the key site in the division—success here leads directly to Director-level promotions at HQ. Everyone who has held this position has moved up in the organization.

    • Strong Labor Relations: The Gulf Coast site recently signed a new 4-year agreement with a solid union. Maintaining and growing this collaborative relationship is critical.

    • Complex, Dynamic Manufacturing: You'll lead 24/7, high-hazard batch chemical operations—a challenging and highly technical environment that drives innovation and performance.

    • Leadership Impact: You'll build, strengthen, and develop a high-performing team across two sites and serve as a visible, values-based leader across all levels of the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead daily operations and long-term strategy for the Gulf Coast flagship plant and provide leadership/support to the NC satellite facility

    • Ensure safety, quality, cost, delivery, and environmental standards are met or exceeded

    • Champion and drive a strong process safety culture and maintain compliance with PSM/RMP regulations

    • Build and sustain strong union relations and foster collaborative labor-management communications

    • Develop and mentor site leadership teams, instilling accountability, transparency, and shared ownership

    • Collaborate with corporate leadership to align site goals with broader business objectives

    • Represent the plant in audits, regulatory inspections, and executive-level reviews

    What We’re Looking For

    • Proven track record in chemical batch manufacturing, with PSM and RMP expertise

    • Prior experience in a union environment (essential)

    • Experience managing or supporting multiple sites, ideally across different states

    • Strong leadership and people-development skills—able to build trust, coach teams, and communicate effectively at all levels

    • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required; advanced degree a plus

    • Experience in 24/7 operations with high-hazard materials preferred

This is not just another plant role—it’s a stepping stone to executive leadership within a world-class organization. If you have the vision, the values, and the ability to lead in a high-stakes chemical manufacturing environment, we want to hear from you.
