    About The Role

    The Tax Accountant is the go-to expert for ensuring tax compliance and optimizing tax strategies. This role is essential in managing tax filings, identifying tax savings opportunities, and ensuring that United Utility stays ahead of tax legislation changes. Your expertise will not only keep us compliant but will also help drive tax efficiency and smart tax planning decisions.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide information to external tax advisors to complete corporate quarterly tax estimates and annual federal and state tax filings.
    • Review corporate federal, state and franchise tax returns prepared by external advisors.
    • Coordinate all tax related accounting required under ASC 740 and collaborate with external tax advisors for preparation and review.
    • Prepare and file state sales and use tax and county and local tax returns.
    • Identify and implement process improvements in company tax procedures.
    • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and create strategies to capitalize on changes to tax legislation.
    • Assist with general accounting activities as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Key Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred)
    • 5+ years of progressive experience in tax accounting (some external tax experience preferred).
    • Strong understanding of federal, state, and sales and use tax code.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • A track record of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
    • Proficient in accounting software systems (Sage 300, Power BI)
  • Compensation
    $60,000 per year
