Position Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Technical Writer III to join our IT team in Austin, TX. This role involves developing, editing, and maintaining a variety of technical and user documentation. Your expertise will support both operational needs and strategic initiatives within the IT division.
You will operate under minimal supervision, leveraging deep knowledge of applications and policies to deliver high-quality documentation that supports the team’s goals.
Key Responsibilities
Create, organize, and maintain technical manuals, user guides, process documents, and IT policies
Collaborate with technical teams to translate complex concepts into clear, user-focused documentation
Conduct research, data analysis, and content evaluation for improved documentation practices
Develop metrics, reports, and visualizations that align with performance and quality goals
Aid in documenting IT environment standards, procedures, and compliance plans
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and alignment with organizational standards
May assist in preparing materials for speeches, presentations, and reports for upper management
Required Skills and Experience
8+ years in technical writing, including policy manuals and procedural documentation
8+ years researching and presenting procedural/technical information effectively
8+ years consulting with technical staff to produce high-quality documentation
6+ years creating detailed reports and professional correspondence for leadership
6+ years presenting updates and strategic documentation to senior executives
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of technical writing experience
Familiarity with IT policies and governance procedures
Additional Skills
Strong understanding of Six Sigma and ITIL methodologies
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential information
Ability to work in accordance with safety and compliance standards
Work Conditions
