    Senior Field Service Drive Technician

    Location: Tomball, TX

    Reports To: Director, Field Service

    About the Role

    The Senior Field Service Drive Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and performance of Paradigm Controls projects across the United States. This role includes startup, commissioning, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and supervision of small crews. The position also supports Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and switchgear.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver high-level field service support to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business

    • Perform startup, commissioning, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance on MV and LV VFD systems

    • Lead and support larger, more complex field service projects

    • Train and mentor entry-level Field Service Drive Technicians

    • Interpret test data and recommend appropriate corrective actions

    • Identify and support new business and return service opportunities

    • Communicate clearly with Field Service Coordinators, Project Managers, and Managers regarding schedules and job status

    • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner, including timesheets, service reports, repair orders, expense reports, and field reports

    • Adhere to all Paradigm Controls safety, quality, and documentation standards

    • Coordinate professionally with internal teams, customers, vendors, and labor support

    • Support work across warranty service, acceptance testing, installation oversight, and startup/commissioning

    • Maintain flexibility for overtime and periodic weekend support

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in an electrical-related field required

    • 4–6 years of experience in a field service environment

    • 3+ years of experience working with Toshiba LV and MV Variable Frequency Drives

    Technical Skills

    • Strong working knowledge of Toshiba MV & LV VFDs

    • Advanced electrical troubleshooting capabilities

    • Experience performing performance and acceptance testing, including:

      • Insulation (megger) testing

      • Ductor testing

      • Hi-potential testing

      • Torque testing

      • Mechanical and functional testing

    • Proficient in startup and maintenance testing of MV and LV VFD systems

    • Advanced understanding of power systems

    • Working knowledge of:

      • ANSI/IEEE device function numbers

      • Electrical conductor ampacities in switchgear applications

      • Electrical air and surface creepage and clearance requirements

    • Experience using test equipment such as Hi-Pot, DLRO, TTR, EZ CT, multimeters, and dial calipers

    • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and control schematics

    Additional Requirements

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

    • Proficiency with hand tools and mechanical troubleshooting

    • Willingness to attend in-house and external training

    • Ability to inspect and maintain issued vehicles and calibrated tools

    Work Environment

    This role requires travel, flexible scheduling, and hands-on field work in industrial environments. Overtime and weekend support may be required.
