Job Title: Senior VoIP / Unified Communications Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned Senior VoIP / Unified Communications Engineer to provide remote, ad-hoc professional services in support of a mixed Cisco CUCM and Webex Calling environment. This role is intended to augment and partner with our internal senior VoIP engineer and help execute planned initiatives and ongoing support activities, as overall internal resources are limited.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will provide senior-level expertise and hands-on support, including but not limited to:
Installation, configuration, and upgrade support for Cisco Unified Communications systems
Advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of VoIP and UC issues
Design review, validation, and documentation of voice architectures
Collaboration with internal engineering staff on audits, migrations, and upgrades
Providing best-practice recommendations aligned with Cisco standards
Upgrade Cisco CUCM from version 12.5 to 14 (CUCM 15 is not an option due to third-party application incompatibilities)
Update Cisco systems to comply with new TLS authentication requirements
Upgrade and validate the Informacast Paging system
Conduct a RedSky (E911) audit in collaboration with the internal senior engineer
Conduct a Cisco CUBE routing audit in collaboration with the internal senior engineer
Assist with the migration of the red phone environment to Cisco
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of experience in VoIP / Unified Communications engineering
Deep hands-on expertise with:
Cisco CUCM
Webex Calling
Cisco CUBE
RedSky (E911)
Informacast Paging
Strong understanding of SIP, TLS, certificates, and voice security
Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale voice environments
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote consulting model
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco Collaboration certifications (CCNP/CCIE Collaboration or equivalent experience)
Prior experience performing system audits, upgrades, and migrations
Strong documentation and knowledge-transfer skills
