Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator / Copper Fabricator to join our custom architectural metal workshop. In this role, you will set up, maintain, and operate industrial machines while also performing hands-on custom copper fabrication related to architectural roofing projects.
This is not a production role. Our work involves one-off, custom copper fabrication including dormers, chimney caps, finials, and other roofing-related architectural elements. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and takes pride in craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
Perform routine safety and maintenance checks prior to machine operation Set up, calibrate, adjust, and clean machines including CNC, water jet and press brake Operate machinery to cut, bend, and form copper components Perform copper forming, bending, and soldering for custom roofing elements Measure and replicate parts directly from original pieces or templates Use precision tools to inspect fabricated components Monitor output to ensure it meets quality and craftsmanship standards Troubleshoot machine or fabrication issues as they arise Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment Maintain basic records of work performed and materials used
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED Previous experience as a machine operator and/or metal fabricator required Experience operating CNC machinery (water jet, press brake, bending equipment) Strong knowledge of copper fabrication and soldering Ability to read and interpret measurements, shop drawings, and templates High attention to detail and strong hand-eye coordination Ability to adhere to all safety rules and regulations Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting materials, standing for long periods, and repetitive motion
