COST ACCOUNTING MANAGER FOR A MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN NORTHWEST HOUSTON. Excellent opportunity to join an entrepreneurial team and to be the financial leader at a state of the art manufacturing plant. **Must have Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience.
COST ACCOUNTING MANAGER REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 3+ years’ manufacturing experience including standard cost accounting & fixed assets
- Experience JD Edwards a plus
- Must possess time management skills, be deadline and detail-oriented, and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
COST ACCOUNTING MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manufacturing Cost and Standard Cost Accounting experience required
- Responsible for month-end close accounting procedures
- Conducts monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; maintains the general ledger as well as the Fixed Asset and Inventory sub-ledgers
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries including amortizations, accruals for interest, payroll entries and allocations, depreciation and various write-offs
- Prepares accurate, timely financial statements; works closely with other accounting teams to reconcile intra-company purchases and sales
- Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports.
- Works with Purchasing and Inventory Control leads to verify all Purchase Orders and Work Orders ensuring accuracy of data
- Works closely with President and VP of division to provide on-time feedback related to costs of manufacturing
- Tracks manufacturing sales tax exemptions for purchases and files returns as necessary
- Analyzes financial statements for discrepancies and other issues
- Develops and implements operations and accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes; creates and maintains SOP documentation
