    Position Overview and Duties

Sentral's People team is seeking a **Payroll & Benefits Business Partner **with a drive and desire to contribute every day! This individual will have a critical role supporting the organization's Human Resources and Talent functions for the Home Team and Sentral Communities. This is a remote, full-time, exempt position.

    What You'll Do:

    • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in the HR space for multi-state US Payroll and Compliance
    • Maintain current knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations and recommend appropriate action for compliance purposes
    • Assist with payroll registration and ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax law including remittance, garnishments, and withholdings.
    • Respond to inquiries and requests from the Employment Development Department and requests for employment verification and unemployment notices.
    • Collaborate with our accounting department to ensure proper billing of employees based on community, department, and job duties.
    • Support payroll and time management training for employees and managers.
    • Process bi-weekly payroll and off-cycle requests with high attention to detail for accuracy and timeliness.
    • Manage the US Benefits and Leaves programs
    • Serve as first point of contact for team member questions throughout the employee lifecycle
    • Develop, document and maintain clear SOPs to support HR policies and procedures
    • Partner with the People Team to identify company needs, and design and implement new programs and resources to suit those needs
    • Provide guidance in managing performance issues at all levels
    • Provide guidance to employees and managers with interpretation of recruiting related topics including policies and procedures
    • Perform other HR related duties as required and assigned

    Skills and Experience

    • A minimum of 5+ years experience in a Human Resources/People Operations function, preferably in a tech/start-up environment
    • Payroll Certification (CPP), highly desired
    • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), highly desired
    • Experience handling sensitive employee relations matters
    • Able to combine great people's intuition, business judgment and discretion in your decision-making
    • Experience providing business partnership and support to a diverse group of managers
    • Demonstrable experience of cross collaboration and partnership with key internal stakeholders such as Legal, Operations,Finance, IT etc.
    • Successful track record of implementing HR processes, employee resourcing, performance management and change management
    • Strong knowledge of local HR compliance regulations, employment laws, and industry best practices
    • Team player with a sense of ownership and a positive “get things done” attitude - self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced and self-directed environment
    • Deep comfort level with technical systems and software, experience with HRIS systems, Rippling experience ids highly desired
    • Values and respects confidentiality
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Bachelor degree or equivalent from an accredited university, highly desired
    • Bilingual (Spanish), highly desired
