We are seeking Serbo-Croatian Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Serbo-Croatian, covering Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin dialects, is a priority Balkan language group for asylum and immigration proceedings.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Serbo-Croatian ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.

Interpret accurately, impartially, and confidentially in immigration, legal, and administrative settings.

Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter standards and ethics.

Manage both scheduled and urgent/surge assignments.

Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Serbo-Croatian (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, or Montenegrin) and English.

2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, government, or community preferred).

Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.

Strong telephone communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
