    We are looking for a motivated Automotive Service Writer / State Inspector to join our fast-paced automotive service team. This role is responsible for performing state inspections, assisting customers, recommending maintenance services, and supporting shop operations.

    The ideal candidate is customer-focused, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-moving automotive environment. Bilingual candidates (English / Spanish) are preferred.

    This position primarily functions as a Customer Service Advisor and State Inspector, helping guests understand their vehicle’s needs and recommending services, while occasionally assisting with basic lube technician duties when required.

    Compensation

    We offer competitive weekly pay plus commission on recommended services.

    Commission Opportunities:

    Air Filter — $2

    Cabin Filter — $3

    Light Bulbs — $1

    Wipers (Standard) — $1 each / $2 pair

    Wipers (Premium) — $2 each / $4 pair

    Fuel Filter — $5

    Flush Services — $5

    Battery — $5

    Tires — $5 (must meet matrix)

    Tire Rotation (Car) — $2

    Tire Rotation (Truck) — $3

    Mechanical Labor — $10 per billed labor hour

    Key Responsibilities

    Perform Texas state safety and emissions inspections according to state regulations

    Clearly explain inspection results and vehicle needs to customers

    Enter guest and vehicle information into the system accurately

    Review vehicle history and manufacturer maintenance recommendations

    Present service recommendations with transparent pricing

    Answer customer questions and provide professional service advice

    Communicate additional services to technicians and assist with parts coordination

    Review invoices with customers and process payments

    Maintain a clean and organized inspection and service area

    Ensure all tools and inspection equipment are properly maintained

    Provide an excellent guest experience and invite customers to return

    Assist with basic lube technician duties when needed

    Perform additional duties as assigned by management

    Qualifications

    Valid Texas State Vehicle Inspection License (or ability to obtain quickly)

    Valid Driver’s License

    Strong communication and customer service skills

    Ability to work in a fast-paced automotive environment

    Ability to stand for extended periods and work on concrete floors

    Comfortable working around vehicles, shop equipment, noise, and varying temperatures

    Must be 18 years of age or older

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
