Position Summary:
Wilmington Machinery is seeking a hands-on, mechanically and electrically skilled Service Engineer to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain injection molding and blow molding equipment at customer facilities. This role requires extensive travel, problem-solving under pressure, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
· Install and commission new molding machinery at customer sites.
· Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC-related issues on equipment in the field.
· Perform preventive maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer guidelines.
· Train customers on machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
· Document all service calls and repairs accurately and timely.
· Serve as a technical liaison between customers and engineering teams.
· Provide feedback on equipment performance and field failures to drive design improvements.
· Maintain tools, parts inventory, and travel readiness.
Qualifications:
· Technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering – or equivalent work experience.
· 3+ years of hands-on experience with injection and/or blow molding machinery.
· Proficient in electrical schematics, PLC troubleshooting (preferably Allen-Bradley), hydraulics, and pneumatics.
· Comfortable reading mechanical drawings and machine assembly schematics.
· Must be able to travel 70%+ including internationally, sometimes on short notice.
· Strong communication and customer service skills.
· Must be self-directed, organized, and able to work independently.
· Valid driver’s license and passport required.
Preferred:
· Prior experience with Wilmington Machinery equipment a plus.
· Experience in plastic processing and mold setup is advantageous.
· Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, and safety systems (e.g., ISO 13849-1) is desirable.
