Job Description
As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for leading, training, developing, and supporting the service technician and engineering team in the service group. Under your direct leadership, the team will service a variety of test systems, primarily dynamometer test cells for propulsion and driveline systems. This includes working with dynamometer control software to run customer tests, performing test equipment calibrations, and executing troubleshooting efforts on test cell equipment. Setup of customer test cell equipment and auxiliary testing equipment. The service tech group will be both external and internal customer facing by supporting UTAC’s own various test labs, and customer systems. Duties will include travel to customer sites, supporting customer relations, and may include performing work directly in front of customers.
Roles and Responsibilities
Technical responsibility for organizing, executing, and coordinating customer jobs
Act as a liaison with customers with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the test system
Lead service team projects with other members of the team to see jobs to completion
Self-guided troubleshooting
Build assistance on dynamometer systems
Filling out service reports, calibration, and maintenance reports
Come up with solutions to repair customer problems
Maintenance and calibration of testing equipment
Assisting customers on best practices for maintaining their equipment
Explaining to customers the repairs necessary to their equipment
Write service reports, calibration, and maintenance reports for release to customers
Help to train other service engineers and technicians on UTAC procedures
Support the UTAC way at all times
Making maintenance plans and explaining them to customers
Help maintain equipment inventory and advise on specialized tool and equipment needs
Advise on calibrations of UTAC equipment
Help maintain a resource calendar as part of the entire service team
Qualifications
3 years + in either maintenance or testing or service industry
Excellent team building and communication skills required
Strong problem solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills required
Candidate must be able to function as part of a team, with members of varying job levels, and work cooperatively toward team goals
Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
Knowledge of control components (sensors, motor control devices, etc.)
Knowledge of hydraulic systems a plus
Knowledge of motor control drives and VFD’s a plus
Knowledge of alignment and vibration monitoring equipment and best practices a plus
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Able to relay technical information in a way your audience understands
Ability to provide excellent customer service

Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area

It may require occasional overnight travel (nationally and internationally). Up to 10% travel can be expected – around 1-2 weeks per half of year
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for traveling between multiple work sites as needed.
