    Housekeeping Supervisor Job Description

    ServiceMaster Twin Cities is seeking a dedicated and professional Housekeeping Supervisor to lead a team of Housekeepers. We are committed to providing excellent commercial janitorial services using the highest standards of service and customer care.

    The Housekeeping Supervisor assists the Operations Manager in the day to day running of the business and supervises a team to ensure a high degree of cleanliness and that contract required outcomes as described in specific contracts are met. Responsibilities include organizing employee shifts, training and motivating team members and inspecting the work of building cleaning staff. To be successful in this role, the supervisor must set and maintain high standards of cleaning on a daily basis for both themselves and their teams. They should be organized, have good communication skills, an understanding of sanitation regulations and team management abilities.

    Ultimately, you will help ensure our daily housekeeping operations run smoothly and that customers are satisfied.

    Housekeeper Supervisor Responsibilities

    Oversee staff performance on a daily basis

    Inspect assigned buildings to ensure all areas have been cleaned and sanitized correctly and completely

    Schedule shifts and arrange for replacements in cases of absence

    Educate staff and model the use of safety and security protocols including the use of personal protection equipment as necessary

    Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas

    Conduct orientation training and in-service training to explain policies, work procedures, and demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment

    Coach and motivate team members and resolve any issues that occur on the job

    Investigate customer concerns regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and take corrective action

    Make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operations

    Monitor and replenish cleaning products stock including chemicals, paper products, can liners and rubber gloves, etc.

    Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products as well as proper labeling

    Attends staff meetings and in-service training to maintain industry knowledge

    Works with Operations Managers to document recommendations for disciplinary action, promotion, transfer or dismissal

    Counseling team members as necessary regarding schedules, performance etc.

    Meet regularly with building contacts to ensure customer satisfaction

    Prepare/maintain necessary records/accounts

    Performs cleaning duties in cases of emergency or staff shortage

    Work with Operations Managers to respond to customer special requests

    Participates in special projects for customers as necessary

    Report repairs and replacements needed when encountered on job

    Other duties as assigned

    Housekeeper Requirements

    High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience; or knowledge, skills, and mental ability equivalent to 2 years of high school education

    Traveling to and from client locations is required

    A valid Driver’s License and clean driving record is required

    Previous work experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor or similar role

    Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for large organizations

    Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products

    Ability to use personal protective equipment as required

    Excellent organizational and team management skills

    Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job

    Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends

    Physically able to carry a backpack vacuum cleaner (up to 30 lbs.) for extended periods of time

    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

    Housekeeper Competencies

    Must be able to work independently of direct supervision

    Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills

    Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, push carts and equipment, and walk during daily routine, with ability to stand for long lengths of time

    Able to use smart phones, tablets and other electronic devices to complete work

    Able to work well in a team or individual environment

    Able to follow written and verbal directions

    Able to assist customers when needed

    Pays attention to detail

    Able to respond effectively to changes in workload and scheduling based on business needs

    Preferred Qualifications

    Two years previous supervisory experience in a janitorial or other supervisory role
