    Job Description

    WHAT YOU GET TO DO IN THIS ROLE:   

    • As a Senior Software Engineer within the IT Engineering group, you will be responsible for leading key initiatives that go across different products and significantly affect our web component ecosystem that allows our customers to create innovative, elegant, and high performing experiences across multiple devices.
    • You will use your experience building web applications using modern technologies and your expertise in performance, architecture, and API definition and design to push the boundaries of our platform while building a strong foundation.
    • You will work in team setting  to build highly interactive web-based application UIs that can scale with application complexity using metadata driven architectures.
    • You will also collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop new and improve on existing web component features.
    • You will provide technical leadership and be able to coach and mentor other software engineers in different methodologies.
    • You will provide perspective on leading industry trends, recommendations on new and emerging technologies, and are able to resolve complex technical problems.

    TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU HAVE:

    • 6+ years software development experience including:
    • Expert level understanding of best practices for designing and implementing highly interactive user interfaces for high volume web applications. Emphasis on JavaScript experience.
    • Expert level understanding of web technology standards; WCAG, W3C
    • Expert level understanding of web protocols, browser support, and web development best practices; cross-browser compatibility, responsive design, performance, accessibility, internationalization, privacy, and security
    • Expert level understanding with Java or similar object-oriented language, architectural design, API definition, JVM stack and memory management, caching, threading, etc.
    • Expertise using JavaScript libraries such as AngularJS, Bootstrap, React, Node.js, jQuery, and Prototype
    • Deep working knowledge of AJAX, JSON, HTML, XML, CSS, SOAP, REST and associated frameworks
    • Successfully demonstrated completing projects, on time, on budget
    • Experience with troubleshooting difficult production issues e.g. memory leaks, network problems, intermittent failures etc. across the stack
    • Experience resolving performance issues, including database bottlenecks and concurrency
    • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar discipline

    A required in office work persona is defined as an employee who is contracted to work from or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office. This persona is required to work from their assigned workplace location 100% of the work week based on the business needs of their role.

    FLEXIBLE 

    A flexible work persona is defined as an employee who is contracted to work from or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office and will work from their assigned workplace location roughly 3 days/week or less (generally around 40-60% of the work week). Flexible employees may choose to work the remaining working time from their workplace location or home. Flexible employees are required to work within their state, province, region, or country of employment.

    REMOTE

    A remote work persona is defined as an employee who performs their responsibilities exclusively outside of a ServiceNow workplace and is not contracted or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office, including those whose place of work (pursuant to their terms and conditions of employment) is their home. Remote employees are required to work within their state, province, region, or country of employment.
