    Job Description

    ServiceNow is currently seeking a Systems Architect who is proficient in design and architecture of highly available compute infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment.  This person will be responsible for automating operational activities related to Servers, Operating Systems, Active Directory, vSphere, storage, load balancers and other Systems technologies both on-prem and in the cloud.

     WHAT YOU GET TO DO IN THIS ROLE:

     

    • Manage a development lab consisting of approximately 200 physical servers, 20 network switches, and over 1000 virtual machines using various flavors of Linux and Windows.
    • Perform design improvements on a lab infrastructure consisting of Dell servers, Juniper switches, F5 load balancers, Infoblox IPAM, Active Directory, vSphere, and Pure storage arrays.
    • Support the Kubernetes-based Jenkins build environments and implement improvements to increase reliability and operational efficiency.
    • Architect methods for keeping the lab Juniper build environment in-line with the AWS-hosted EKS Jenkins build environment. 
    • Drive the automation of operational activities for the lab, including integrations with vSphere, Jenkins, and ServiceNow.
    • Deploy and decommission physical servers and switches as part of a hardware lifecycle process.
    • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement innovative solutions to reduce manual work.
    • Partner with ServiceNow developers to integrate technologies with the ServiceNow platform.
    • Ensure high quality documentation for supported infrastructure is developed and maintained.
    • Ensure systems comply with IT Security requirements and are patched regularly.

    TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU HAVE:

     

    • A minimum 15 years of experience in managing Windows and Linux servers in a highly virtualized environment
    • A minimum 5 years of experience in managing Cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS EKS).
    • A minimum 5 years of experience in managing network switches (preferably Juniper Junos)
    • Expert knowledge of vSphere ESXi 6/7 and vCenter
    • Expert knowledge of DevOps CI/CD and Jenkins
    • Expert knowledge of server load balancers and reverse proxies (preferably F5 LTM and Nginx)
    • Deep understanding of containerization and Kubernetes (Rancher experience is a plus)
    • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP in a Windows/Linux landscape (preferably Infoblox IPAM)
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory design and configuration
    • Experience with iSCSI SAN storage (Pure Storage background is a plus)
    • Experience with containerization and Kubernetes (Rancher experience is a plus)
    • Knowledge of scripting languages (especially powershell/powercli)
    • Experience in crafting advanced Splunk queries in support of operational needs
    • Experience using the ServiceNow platform with knowledge of IT Operations Management
    • Ability to multi-task in an ever-changing environment
    • Strong security understanding and experience
    • Exceptional English communication skills. This includes listening skills and an open attitude toward constructive feedback
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline
