    Job Description

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION

    This position reports to the General Manager of Wilkins operations. The Supply Chain Manager oversees the Inventory Management, Materials Warehouse, Distribution and Service Centers. Primary focus will be on managing factory item coverage and expensed purchases while achieving maximum level of parts availability for manufacturing and sales at minimum inventory levels, unit cost and expense. This position will be responsible for supervising buyer and planning team members including outside processing.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Responsible for forecasting, scheduling, maintaining lead times of material, inventory management, usage tracking, and supporting daily field operations for multiple locations.
    • Analyze and manage data for Sales, Inventory, Operations and Planning (SIOP) processes. Review business inputs to optimize the trade-offs between revenue, customer service, cash flow, and total cost.

     STRATEGIC

    • Manage supplier performance, lead-time reduction, continuity of supply (COS), inventory buffer & allocation to establish resiliency into the supply chain without driving excess.
    • Develop appropriate inventory management tools and processes to achieve organizational goals
    • Further develop existing forecast and supply programs to improve current days of inventory and cash cycle
    • Improve forecasting tools and procedures through application of innovative ideas and projects
    • Analyze inventory levels and product demands to determine reorder levels and safety stocks that will ensure product availability and minimize inventory costs
    • Create and communicate demand and supply schedules, priorities, and status to multiple internal and external stakeholders.

    TACTICAL

    • Review and update forecast, production schedules and material requirements through SIOP process
    • Help architect Zurn regional inventory signals and how those are streamlined back to the vendor base
    • Support new product development and end of life process to minimize impact to overall supply chain health
    • Assist in coordination and planning of materials requirements for new product introductions
    • Proactively review material supply and demand to determine push/pull actions appropriate to impact current procurement schedule and releases
    • Assess impact to materials availability from customer sales opportunities that may be affecting demand for product over and above the plan
    • Review material shortages, stock outages, and safety stock levels while working with Sourcing and Purchasing to meet customer requirements. Propose changes when needed.
    • Assist in the resolution of MRP and planning discrepancies. In depth knowledge of ERP systems strongly preferred
    • Develops reporting mechanisms and performs analytics to track progress toward operational goals and drive root-cause analysis. Utilizes project management skills to direct activities towards continuous process improvement.

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • BS or BA degree (Supply Chain Management, Industrial Distribution, or technical field preferred)
    • A minimum of 7 years of experience in materials management or supply chain, demand planning, production scheduling, inventory control, and procurement in a high volume, high-mix manufacturing environment
    • Familiarity with all aspects of material management including Information Systems and procedures relating to the function
    • Proven success working in a fast paced, matrixed environment with the ability to adapt to changing business conditions
    • Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to plan projects and to use written/verbal/analytical and organizational skills to influence business objectives
    • Ability to drive and deliver results
    • Exhibit strong leadership and coaching/mentoring skills
    • Must be self-directed, self-starting and a creative individual
    • Must be positive with strong core values that foster continuous improvement
    • Microsoft Excel, expert level required
    • Must be willing to travel as required
