WHAT YOU GET TO DO IN THIS ROLE:

As a Senior / Staff Software Engineer with the Platform Development team, you will be building the framework that allows our customers to create innovative, elegant and high performing experiences across multiple devices.

We are hiring for two teams, one that leads our ElasticSearch integration OR one who leads our security development experience with OWASP.

• The Elasticsearch team not only leads integrations for the platform, they are also responsible for deploying Elasticsearch as a Service within ServiceNow cloud!
• The OWASP team leads both our transaction/session management as well as security pieces in regards to XML processing, login/API issues and more.

These are two critical teams within Core Platform, where every dollar of ServiceNow's revenue ultimately flows through.

Qualifications

IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, WE NEED SOMEONE WHO HAS:

5+ years software development experience including: 

• Solid understanding of Java
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or Oracle
• Experience with concurrency and multi-threaded web applications
• Experience building a SaaS application product utilizing a combination of modern DevOps tools (Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
• Either:
  • Experience building services using ElasticSearch platform
    • Experience with deployment of ElasticSearch cluster, maintenance, tuning, and scaling
    • Understanding of ElasticSearch index configuration options
  • Experience dealing with complex security issues pertaining to OWASP including Injection, Broken Authentication, Broken Access Control, Scripting XSS (if you've read this far, you know these are the OWASP top 10)

BONUS POINTS FOR: 

• Experience developing on enterprise platforms
• Experience building services using Kafka
  • Understanding of Kafka core concepts and API
• Experience with client-side JavaScript frameworks and libraries like AngularJS, React, and jQuery
• Experience using GIT's Source Control system
