About UGT
United Global Technologies is a woman-owned professional services and engineering firm based in Charlotte, NC. We deliver IT, engineering, and program management services to federal, state, and commercial clients, including several Department of Energy national laboratories. UGT is a two-time DOE Mentor-Protégé and has been named to the Inc. Fastest Growing list six times.
Position Summary
UGT is looking for a ServiceNow Technical Developer for our ServiceNow program at a Department of Energy national laboratory. You will work directly under our lead ServiceNow Architect on Software Asset Management (SAM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), and Configuration Management Database (CMDB). You'll take the architect's designs and turn them into configured, tested, deployable work, which lets the architect focus on design and governance and speeds up the program schedule. This is a hands-on build role for someone who can pick up a story and finish it with little hand-holding.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, build, and maintain the ServiceNow SAM Pro, HAM Pro, and CMDB modules to the lead architect's designs and standards.
- Build and tune CMDB class structures, relationships, identification and reconciliation rules (IRE), and data certification, all aligned to the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
- Configure and troubleshoot ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping, including MID Servers, patterns, schedules, and credentials.
- Build and maintain integrations that feed the CMDB and asset tables, using IntegrationHub, Service Graph Connectors (e.g., SCCM/Intune, Jamf, Tanium), REST/SOAP APIs, Import Sets, and Transform Maps.
- Set up SAM software models, normalization, reconciliation, entitlement imports, publisher packs, and license compliance reporting.
- Build HAM lifecycle workflows covering procurement, receiving, stockrooms, contracts, refresh, and disposal, plus any related catalog items.
- Write and maintain server- and client-side scripts: Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions, Scheduled Jobs, and Flow Designer flows/actions.
- Run CMDB health and data quality work: duplicate remediation, stale CI cleanup, completeness and correctness scoring, and the dashboards that track them.
- Work in an Agile/Scrum setting: take on user stories, estimate work, join sprint ceremonies, and deliver on sprint commitments.
- Follow platform governance, including update sets or the App Repo, code reviews, ATF test creation, and documentation of design and configuration changes.
- Support testing, UAT defect resolution, deployments, and post-go-live hypercare.
- Work with laboratory IT, cybersecurity, procurement, and asset management stakeholders, and escalate design decisions to the lead architect.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on implementation experience with at least two of: SAM Pro, HAM Pro, CMDB/CSDM.
- Strong JavaScript skills and a solid grasp of the Glide APIs and the ServiceNow data model.
- Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, the MID Server, and the Identification and Reconciliation Engine.
- Experience building integrations with REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub, Import Sets, and Transform Maps.
- Experience working on Agile delivery teams and with tools such as ServiceNow Agile Development (SDLC), Jira, or Azure DevOps.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a DOE background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in SAM, HAM, and/or Discovery.
- Prior experience on DOE, national laboratory, or other federal ServiceNow programs.
- Experience with Service Graph Connectors and third-party discovery tools such as SCCM, Intune, Tanium, or Jamf.
- Familiarity with ITIL v4 and IT Asset Management (ITAM) best practices.
- Experience with ATF (Automated Test Framework) and CI/CD practices on the ServiceNow platform.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
