OVERVIEW

Sestra Systems, an innovative startup delivering IoT-based smart dispensing solutions across industries, is currently recruiting a Linux Systems Administrator to support Sestra’s IoT devices and related infrastructure. We are looking for a talented technical problem solver with solid linux admin expertise, who wants the excitement that only a start-up can provide. You will have an early- stage role, influencing the company’s technology direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Isolate and resolve of hardware and software problems that cross different hardware and software architectures, and within different Linux version / distributions.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose network stability issues across our disperse customer environments, evaluate and implement solutions to improve reliability.
• Evaluate IoT device provisioning and software update strategies, across different Linux distributions and versions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues during off-hours, weekends, and during on-call rotations
• Learn new things, adapt to rapidly changing requirements, and have fun

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of demonstrable experience utilizing the following:
  • Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), including ssh, rsync, syslog, systemd (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Debian Package Creation (or equivalent)
  • Strong shell scripting (bash/sh, sed, awk)
  • Networking / troubleshooting connectivity over WiFi, ethernet, and / or bluetooth
• A strong plus, will include knowledge of:
  • Ansible playbook development or equivalent configuration management tools and methods, such as Chef.
  • Amazon Web Services deployment and administration (or equivalent)
  • Administering / managing Relational Database Management Systems
  • Coding or Scripting background in Python -- C/C++, or Node.JS
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent analytical problem solving skills (required)
• Willingness to have fun in the process (required)
