    EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES WITH SHARE FOOD PROGRAM! WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SNAP-ED PROGRAM ASSISTANT TO ADD TO OUR TEAM!

    Share Food Program (“Share”) is the largest-serving hunger relief organization in the Philadelphia region, and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. Before the Covid-19 crisis began, Share distributed food to 700,000 neighbors in need each month, 36% of whom were children, and 12% of whom were seniors. The need has risen sharply since early 2020—Share now serves more than 1 million each month.

    Share Food Program works with multiple agencies implementing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) within the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) and other community-based sites. This is a part-time position to support partners implementing SNAP-Ed at listed sites. The SNAP-Ed program assistant will work with partners to provide monthly distributions fresh produce to children and families throughout their networks. Additionally, this position will act as a liaison between the SNAP-Ed sites and Share Food Program's existing pantry network. Core Job Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Lead distributions of fresh produce to children and families in the region with on-site SNAP ed staff
    • Work SNAP-Ed Program Coordinator to organize daily distributions and “Produce of the Month”
    • Organize and transport pre-formed fresh produce boxes to school sites
    • Drive sprinter van with produce to and from distributions
    • Assist individuals in completing self-declaration of need forms
    • Set up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and tents as needed
    • Track distributions by individual site
    • Additional duties as required

    Preferred Experience:

    • Experience working with diverse groups of individuals including children and youth
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently
    • Strong organizational skills

    Physical Requirements:

    • Active driver's license with clean driving record
    • Ability to operate a pallet jack (training provided)
    • Walking and standing up to 50-75% of the time
    • Keyboard use or repetitive hand motion
    • Lifting/carrying up to 25-30 pounds at a time
    • Pushing/pulling loaded pallets using a pallet jack
    • Use of forklift (training provided)

    Environmental Risks:

    • Position includes exposure to outside temperatures up to 80-90% of the time

     

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $18 per hour
