Sheet Metal Mechanic
Position Overview
Seeking experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics to support high-tech, mission-critical projects in semiconductor and advanced manufacturing environments.
This role focuses on the installation of HVAC duct systems and specialty exhaust/ventilation systems within cleanroom and controlled environments. Candidates must be comfortable working under strict quality standards with complex mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, fabricate, and assemble HVAC duct systems, including supply, return, and exhaust ductwork
- Support installation of specialty exhaust systems such as acid exhaust, chemical exhaust, and high-performance ventilation systems
- Read and work from blueprints, isometric drawings, and coordinated BIM layouts
- Perform layout, cutting, fitting, and installation of sheet metal duct and HVAC components
- Install VAV boxes, dampers, and other air distribution equipment as required
- Execute field modifications and troubleshoot installation issues independently
- Work in cleanroom and controlled environments while adhering to all protocols and standards
- Coordinate with pipefitters, plumbers, and other mechanical trades on multi-system installations
- Ensure all work meets HVAC performance standards, airflow requirements, and project specifications
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity on fast-paced job sites
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an HVAC sheet metal mechanic in commercial or industrial construction
- Strong experience installing and fabricating HVAC ductwork systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and HVAC drawings independently
- Experience with air distribution systems, including VAVs, dampers, and exhaust systems
- Experience in cleanroom, semiconductor, or mission-critical environments preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred
