  • Responsibilities

    Under moderate supervision, operates shears, punch press, notchers, and bending equipment to cut and shape sheet metal, and does other work as required. Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Moves and prepares sheet metal for work. • Measures surfaces to determine the proper length, width, thickness, and coverage required for the job. • Operates shears to cut doors, sides, roofs, and small parts. • Operates a punch press to measure and cut square, circular, and other-shaped holes. • May operate manual and computerized press brakes to bend corners in sheet metal and back gauges, including making horizontal and vertical adjustments. • May operate a notcher to make open or closed cuts for doors, sides, roofs, and small parts. • May operate grinders and cutting torches. • Fabricates glastic barriers using appropriate tools and equipment. • Moves material into the proper position, cleans and maintains the work area. Qualifications: • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints • Experience in working with machinery such as press brakes and shears • Ability to cut parts, punch, and bend with press brakes as needed • Observes safety and security procedures. Education and Experience: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
