    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

    OVERVIEW

    The Housing Navigation Center (HNC) is a resource center that provides services to people experiencing homelessness, helps people regain housing, and helps households in Weld County navigate local housing resources. As part of Weld’s Way Home, Weld County’s initiative to prevent and address homelessness, the HNC provides clear access to housing services ranging from homelessness prevention to shelter. The person in this role will use a Housing First focus to plan for and manage the overnight shelter throughout its seasonal operation. This includes working directly with people experiencing homelessness to create safe, effective, and sustainable low barrier shelter.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Supervisor Duties

    Oversee overnight operations of the shelter; including ability to cover evening and overnight shifts when necessary

    Assist the Assistant Director of Shelter Operations in hiring and training

    Supervision of Shelter Leads and indirect supervision of Shelter Associates

    Maintain and manage staff scheduling and timesheets

    Ensure full staffing of the overnight shelter, including filling in for staff as needed

    Provide general staff support through problem solving and conflict mediation

    Respond to staffing emergencies

    General Duties

    Work with people experiencing homelessness during shelter hours, including mitigating conflict, ensuring guests and staff safety, and providing guests with appropriate resources

    Must be able to work evenings, nights, holidays and weekend shifts

    Work with shelter staff to provide direct services to people experiencing homelessness, including providing essential supplies for those living outdoors, assisting with meal services, and general overall assistance for shelter guests

    Update, maintain, and ensure HNC policies and procedures for shelter activities are followed

    Coordinate, maintain, and supervise nightly shelter tasks. This could include:

    data collection,

    cleaning,

    check-in/check-out,

    addressing critical violations

    ensuring emergency procedures are being followed when applicable

    ordering supplies,

    keeping updated on communicable disease policies

    Work with Shelter Leads to ensure smooth intake and check in/out process for guests

    In conjunction with Shelter Leads, input guest information into the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS)

    Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator and HNC staff in supporting shelter services

    Support and schedule training of staff around Housing First, Trauma-Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Mental Health First Aid, and other necessary topics

    Provide general staff support through problem solving and conflict mediation.

    Maintain relationships among community partner agencies, key stakeholders, and the Weld County community to increase awareness of shelter resources and to maintain shelter stability through collaboration

    Support and promote the mission, values, goals and objectives of United Way, including representing United Way in professional organizations and the community (as assigned).

    Support fundraising efforts of United Way and activities that support United Way.

    Support United Way annual events, disaster response, and other activities as assigned.

    Participate in staff meetings and in service opportunities.

    Contribute to organizational promotions including writing promotional copy, proofreading informational and campaign materials, participation in outreach, etc.

    Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor’s Degree and three years’ experience in homeless services, case management, social work, health/human services, public health, or related nonprofit experience

    Experience in case management, shelter management, and/or homelessness response services

    Experience in supervision and leadership roles

    Experience in scheduling, hiring, and training

    Experience with HMIS or similar data tracking tool preferred

    Experience and willingness to work with highly vulnerable individuals and people experiencing homelessness

    POSITION INFORMATION

    Full-time (40+ hours), Exempt

    Pay Range: $2,076 - $2,481/Pay Period ($4,152 – $4,962/month)

    Plus $.48 per hour Spanish speaking differential, if applicable

    Supervisory duties: 4 direct reports

    Reports to: Assistant Director of Shelter Operations

    Location: Greeley, CO

    Eligible for remote work: No

    Expected schedule between 12pm-12am

    Shifts are mostly evenings and weekends, with some overnights as needed

    On-call availability required

    Bilingual Spanish/English preferred

    Background check required
