    The Director of Commercial Insights & Analytics plays a critical role in the development of market insights and performance analytics within the CKD therapeutic space for Akebia’s in-line product Auryxia and Phase 3 candidate, vadadustat. Reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial Operations and Analytics, this individual will be responsible for the design, execution, and interpretation of market research studies along with the analysis of primary and secondary market data for performance measurement and market understanding purposes.  This role will work very closely with the Marketing and brand teams, along with other relevant cross-functional partners, to ensure coordination and execution of all market research projects, monitor progress of analytics initiatives, and provide well-supported, actionable intelligence to internal stakeholders

    Required Skills

    • Responsible for all aspects of market research, including the identification of market research needs & the design, execution & interpretation of market research studies.
    • Responsible for the analysis of syndicated, secondary market data for performance measurement and market understanding purposes.
    • Work directly with the Marketing Leadership team in the development of product marketing strategies and tactics; interact with the extended Commercial team, including leadership, to present analyses and recommendations needed to guide high-level decisions affecting product positioning and other relevant marketing strategic initiatives.
    • Work directly with Head of Field Strategy & Commercial Operations to provide data-driven, analytical support to Sales Force Effectiveness projects and other Commercial Operations initiatives
    • Collaborate with Market Access team in conducting payer analytics and plan performance assessment.
    • Perform advanced analysis with market knowledge and marketing expertise to identify patterns within the data to uncover insights and articulate actionable recommendations.
    • Assist in compilation, maintenance, and enhancement of standard market tracking reports (i.e., product audit reports, trend analysis, KPI measurement).
    • Collaborate with IT to create intuitive & scalable data visualization and reporting dashboards utilizing multiple data sources.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree Preferred
    • A minimum 10 years of relevant experience in life science and / or consulting with 5+ years related experience with industry-related secondary analytics and primary market research
    • Experience with retail pharmaceutical channels and data preferred
    • Must have experience working with syndicated health care secondary audit data applications (IQVIA data sets preferred).
    • Must have experience working with quantitative and qualitative primary market research design and implementation including research/analytics project planning.
    • Must have advanced skills with Excel and data mining/analysis; proficiency using Business Intelligence software preferred (e.g. Tableau, Qlik)
    • Solid conceptual thinking - ability to analyze large amounts of information and extract insights.
    • High degree of emotional intelligence, displaying candor and integrity.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with exceptional organization and attention to detail.
    • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
