    Job Description

    $2,000 SIGN-ON BONUS The Sheppard Pratt School - Hunt Valley is a year round special education program that provides educational services to students ages five to 21 with complex intellectual and behavioral disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and other related disorders. Sheppard Pratt offers tuition reimbursement as well as offering fast track Standard Professional Certificate in Special Education and Masters of Arts in Leadership in Teaching programs in partnership with Notre Dame of Maryland University. Sheppard Pratt School- Hunt Valley has access to public transportation for employees and is only a 1-minute walk to the light rail. Responsibilities: * Be responsible for the academic teaching and behavioral management of assigned students; differentiate lessons based on the individual needs of the students * Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific student needs in instruction and create an appropriate learning environment in the classroom setting * Monitor, evaluate, and report on students' progress * Attend and participate in meetings and work cooperatively with other members of the School staff Requirements: * Bachelor's degree and at least 3 months of related teaching experience (i.e. student teaching, internships, etc.) * Must have or be eligible for a conditional, standard professional or advanced certification with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) at time of appointment. Candidates with a conditional certification must obtain standard professional or advanced certification within two to four years of starting in teaching role, as determined by MSDE evaluation of the individual's credentials. Must maintain MSDE certification requirements throughout tenure in position * Current MSDE certification (preferably in special education), experience as a lead teacher with students with autism who are low functioning, non-verbal and have severe emotional/behavioral issues strongly preferred Company Description Sheppard Pratt is the nation's largest private, nonprofit provider of mental health, substance use, special education, developmental disability, and social services.
