    Senior Latent Print Examiner (Active Secret)

    The Contractor shall process evidence to determine the presence of latent fingerprints using any documented wet and dry laboratory process at its location. Processing methods include, but are not limited to, Cyanoacrylate fuming, stickyside paste, dyes, specialized lighting sources, conditions, and magnification. All latent prints discovered shall be marked in a non-destructive manner.

    The Contractor shall examine the photographic image and determine whether the print has sufficient quality to make a comparison, and/or to submit to databases like the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS). This determination shall be in accordance with documented criteria.

    The Contractor shall perform examination comparisons and verifications of latent-to-latent and latent-to-known prints. In performance of these duties the Contractor must have 20/20 vision, or correctable to 20/20 vision corrective lenses, and no detected color vision deficiencies.

    The Contractor shall perform administrative and technical reviews of reports and worksheets.

    The Contractor shall prepare written results suitable for intelligence or prosecutorial packages.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Professional certifications such as International Association of Identification (IAI).
    • Seven (7) years of experience working in a lab performing Latent Print examinations and analysis on all types of materials to include porous, non-porous, and semi-porous materials.
    • Experience using chemical, physical, and digital latent print examination techniques to produce a suitable print for matches and submissions to a database.
    • Experience conducting comparisons with latent and known exemplars.
    • Experience conducting examinations while maintaining chain of custody, and formulating interpretation results for forensic and/or intelligence exploitation.
    • Experience with administrative and technical review (AR/TR) lab procedures.
    • Experience performing quality checking of instruments and reagents.
    • When selected to work in partner labs run by the Defense Forensics Science Center (DFSC), must be able to pass competency and proficiency tests administered at DFSC. Inability to pass the competency test and remain proficient as required could result in removal.
    • Experience with utilizing and submitting to ABIS, AFIS, and/or other national databases.
    • Have 20/20 vision or correctable to 20/20 vision with no detected color vision deficiencies.
    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree coupled with 2-4 years’ experience in the processing of material for latent prints, recovery of latents, examination, visualizing/recording latents, and evaluating latent prints in a forensics laboratory; OR an Associate’s degree coupled with 5-7 years related experience; OR a High School diploma coupled with 8-10 years related experience.
    • Proficiency utilizing AFIS, ABIS, and/or other National databases.
    • Must be able to successfully pass all medical requirements for deployment.
    • Must be able to successfully pass a skills assessment.
