  • Responsibilities

    Shipping/Receiving Material hander will play a crucial role in managing the movement of materials within our facility, ensuring efficient operations and timely shipping and receiving to our customers, internal and external.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Shipping:

    Prepare Shipments:

    • Production: Move from Finished Goods area to shipping stages area based on shipping orders from pick list.
    • Verify Finished Goods to be shipped against pick list and packing slip.
    • Ensure all required items are in the shipment and correct quantities.
    • Affix shipping labels and packing slips to the packing per customer requirements.
    • Coordinate with shipping carriers or logistics providers to schedule pickups. Ensure shipments are ready for pickup at the scheduled time.
    • Work with support departments on special shipments requirements, ex PPAP. Quality Alerts, etc.
    • Safely load shipment onto carriers' equipment using appropriate equipment.
    • Secure shipments in place using straps, pallets, or other securing methods to prevent shifting during transit.
    • Follow loading procedures to optimize space utilization and ensure safe transportation.
    • All other shipments: Select appropriate packaging materials, pack items securely and efficiently to prevent damage during transit and schedule pick up with the appropriate carrier.

    Receiving:

    Receiving Production Materials:

    • Unload delivery truck by using forklift or pallet jack and move the designated receiving area.
    • Scan the barcode label to verify against the ASN for the accuracy of the incoming material against the purchase order. Verify the shipment was received into Epicor.
    • Compare the packing slip against the ASN to ensure the accuracy of the shipment.
    • Conduct visual inspection of incoming materials for damage, defects, non-conformance.
    • Report any non-compliance to the Purchasing Department and or Quality Department.
    • Follow proper lifting and handling techniques to prevent injuries. Move material that are labeled for incoming inspection to the incoming inspection area.
    • Perform weekly, monthly cycle counts and annual physical inventory to reconcile inventory.
    • Complete receiving documentation accurately and legibly, including packing slips to receiving reports.
    • Upload receipts in Epicor for record-keeping.
    • MRO and NON-MRO shipments, move to the MRO Crib.
    • ****Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when handling hazardous materials.
    • Use appropriate PPE and handling equipment as required.
    • Any other duties as required.

    Communicating with Materials Manager, Production Planner, and Quality Department.

    • Communicate effectively with material, warehouse, and production teams regarding receipt of materials as needed.
    • Notify the Materials Manager of any issues or delays in receiving materials that may impact production schedules.

    Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization

    • Keep the receiving, shipping area clean and always organized.
    • Dispose of packaging materials and wasted in designated containers
    • Follow 6S procedures to ensure a safe and organized work environment.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
    • Valid forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment.
    • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

    Working Conditions:

    • Work performed in a manufacturing environment may involve exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery.
    • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety glasses, protection is required.

    • Ability to stand, walk, bend and reach for long periods.
