    JOB DESCRIPTION Shipt is a membership-based marketplace that helps people get the things they need. Our friendly shoppers handpick fresh groceries and household essentials and deliver them to members in as soon as one hour. We are currently on the lookout for a Product Design Intern to join our team! The design team at Shipt imagines the best experiences for our users, and inspires the company to build them.  Everyday we advocate for, understand, and empathize with our users, and help the rest of the company embrace them.  We value collaboration, and work with our engineering, PM, and marketing partners to ensure we make a difference in our users' lives.   

    This is a full-time, paid, 12-week program, located in either our Birmingham, AL or San Francisco office.

    WHAT YOU'LL GAIN At a company our size (“smallish” but growing), every design has an immediate, highly visible impact on our products, our users, and our team.  

    • You will work on real and important projects - we have no other kind.  
    • You will have the chance to receive mentorship from designers with various backgrounds and design “super powers”  in our tight-knit design team.   
    • You will work in a cross-disciplinary environment and learn to effectively partner with PMs, Engineers, and Researchers.  
    • Most of all, your ideas will be heard - we have no ego's here, and everyone's opinion is valid.

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Collect and understand the data, use cases, research, and business rationale surrounding your project(s) with your partners. 
    • Practice design thinking to craft thoughtful, user-centered designs and conduct user testing
    • Complete visual and interaction design for new product features
    • Present your work to peers and stakeholders for review and feedback 
    • Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and other designers to bring designs to life

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum 3.2 GPA
    • Portfolio of work
    • Knowledge of at least one digital design tool: Figma, Sketch, Creative Suite.  Note that we use Figma here.
    • Self-starter who is creative, results-driven, human-centric, accurate and pays attention to details
    • Comfortable working collaboratively on designs, demonstrating an ego-less approach to iteration.
