    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Shipt is growing and we are searching for a Corporate Counsel - Employment to join our team! We are looking for a highly-motivated attorney with a passion for all things employment to join our growing Legal Team and help fuel the Company's rapid growth.  You will serve as the primary legal partner to the People Team, focusing on offering pragmatic advice, drafting employment-related documents, and navigating sensitive employment and compliance issues.

    WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Advise the People Team and business managers on a broad range of employment law issues, including: recruiting and inclusion/diversity, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour/pay equity, internal   investigations, onboarding/off boarding, discrimination, compensation and benefits, unfair competition, and contingent workforce matters
    • Draft, review, and revise employment-related agreements, templates, policies, and procedures
    • Investigate and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment-related inquiries
    • Conduct internal audits, classification reviews, and support other compliance efforts
    • Assist in developing and conducting training and education programs for employees, managers, and the People team

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 4+ years of experience with a national law firm or in an in-house position focused on multi-jurisdictional employment counseling and employment litigation
    • J.D. degree with strong academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar (California admission strongly preferred)
    • Extensive subject matter knowledge and practical experience with federal, state, and local employment law issues (including California-specific employment law expertise)
    • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a growing legal team and cross-functionally with members at all levels of the organization
    • Proven ability to evaluate risk in light of business and practical considerations and to make clear recommendations
    • Organized with the demonstrated ability to balance, triage, and manage multiple time-sensitive issues effectively and independently

    • Self-motivated, efficient, and eager to constantly learn
    • Detailed-oriented but with the broad vision to see large and multi-step projects through to completion
    • Empathetic with excellent professional judgment and a good sense of humor
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Prior in-house experience at a tech company or startup is strongly preferred
