Shipt is growing and we are searching for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team! Your primary role will be to architect, influence, and build strategic infrastructure and delivery systems and tools. You will be a technical leader within the DevOps engineering organization and partner closely with engineering and product leads across multiple teams. Your work will consist of a balance between technical guidance, architectural design, and implementation to deliver high quality software solutions in a rapidly evolving e-commerce environment.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the technical roadmap and vision for Shipt's infrastructure and delivery tooling
- Partner with other engineering leaders to architect and scale a modern technology stack to fulfill the needs of a growing software engineering team
- Provide guidance on the technical direction of strategic initiatives
- Influence Shipt's infrastructure engineering teams and champion a high degree of quality and performance
- Plan and lead the implementation of complex deployment strategies, network designs, microservice architectures, and frontend applications
- Leverage modern monitoring/telemetry tools to identify, assess, and prioritize performance issues
- Partner with backend engineers to design systems with user experience forethought
- Stay up to date with the latest technology trends and bringing the best to the team
- Working experience mentoring fellow engineers
REQUIREMENTS
- 6+ years of software engineering experience and deploying web applications at scale
- Working experience building, debugging, deploying, and scaling applications built on various technology stacks
- Working experience with containerization- Kubernetes, Docker
- Working experience analyzing and improving the performance of infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience with modern cloud platform providers, including but not limited to AWS, GCP, and Azure
- Working experience with various types of datastores including but not limited to PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, S3
- Working experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience with message queueing technologies such as Kafka
- Experience with artifact store tools such as Artifactory, Harbor, ECR
- Experience as a technical lead with ownership of long-term software projects
