Founded in 1895, Kirlin Lighting is the longest-operating independent lighting fixture manufacturer in the United States. This is an entry level position, at our headquarters in Detroit, for a shop hand/press operator who is mechanically inclined, precision oriented and able to produce quality parts under deadlines. We are a rapidly growing company offering growth potential to associates who embody industriousness, conscientiousness, focus, a willingness to learn, very good attendance, a positive attitude, and the ability to enhance the performance of a team.
Duties to be assigned daily by Pressroom Leader. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Operating press
Operating PEM press
Operating drill press
Operating band saw
Operating press brake
Operating shear
Operating saw machines (CNC and miter)
Sanding/deburring parts
Assembly of frames, housings, misc. assemblies
Using hand tools for general fabrication tasks
Hand drill (drill or tap), jig saw, hand held punch, rivet gun, hand riveter, arbor press
Adherence to 5S principles (keeping area clean and organized) in concert with completing tasks
Logs job progression in ERP system
Temporary assignment to assembly or packaging tasks during periods of high or low volume.
Preferred skillsets
Able to read prints and drawings to facilitate the accurate manufacture of parts and assemblies
Able to measure and mark with precision using calipers, tape measure, SAE/Metric scale, micrometer.
Understands shop math
Other requirements
Adheres to safety standards at all times
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
Able to work overtime as needed.
