    Position Summary

The Shop Manager is the logistical backbone of our emergency response operations. You are responsible for ensuring that our field technicians have safe vehicles, fully functional equipment, and the necessary supplies to respond to disasters 24/7. This role requires a proactive "fix-it" attitude, strong mechanical aptitude, and the organizational skills to manage a busy warehouse environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Fleet Management

Maintenance Scheduling: Track and schedule preventative maintenance (oil changes, tires, brakes) for the entire company fleet to minimize downtime.

Inspections: Conduct weekly vehicle inspections to ensure trucks are clean, safe, and stocked with standard emergency kits and proper registration/insurance documentation.

Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with local mechanics and dealerships for major repairs; manage fuel cards and GPS tracking systems.

Minor Repairs: Perform minor vehicle maintenance in-house (e.g., bulb replacements, fluid top-offs, wiper blades) to save costs.

    1. Equipment Repair & Maintenance

Testing & Cleaning: Inspect, clean, and test all restoration equipment (dehumidifiers, air movers, HEPA scrubbers, extractors) upon return from job sites.

Repairs: Troubleshoot and repair broken equipment (e.g., replacing power cords, switches, filters, and pumps).

Asset Tracking: Manage the check-in/check-out process to minimize equipment loss and ensure accountability using our inventory tracking system.

Safety Compliance: Tag out unsafe equipment immediately and ensure all electrical tools meet OSHA safety standards (e.g., PAT testing).

    1. Inventory & Consumables

Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels of critical consumables (chemicals, poly sheeting, tape, PPE, antimicrobial agents).

Procurement: Place orders with vendors to replenish stock, ensuring best pricing and preventing shortages during high-volume storm events.

Job Staging: Ensure "ready-kits" and consumable bins are pre-packed and staged for rapid deployment by emergency crews.

    1. Shop Organization & Facility Management

Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse floor, loading dock, and parking lot.

Waste Disposal: Manage the proper disposal of job site debris, hazardous materials, and general waste.

Health & Safety: Serve as the shop Safety Officer, enforcing PPE usage and safe lifting protocols within the warehouse.

Exterior Facility Maintenance: Maintain the general appearance and functionality of the exterior.

    Qualifications

Experience: 2+ years in warehouse management, fleet coordination, or facility maintenance. Prior experience in the Restoration or Construction industry is highly preferred.

Mechanical Aptitude: Proven ability to repair small engines, electrical appliances, or general machinery.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with computers, specifically inventory management software, Microsoft Excel, and email.

Certifications: Forklift certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain). IICRC certifications (WRT/FSRT) are a bonus.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50-75 lbs regularly, stand for long periods, and tolerate warehouse environments (heat/cold).

Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

    Success Metrics (KPIs)

Equipment Uptime: 95% of total equipment inventory is clean, functional, and ready to rent at all times.

Fleet Reliability: Zero missed jobs due to preventable vehicle breakdowns.

Inventory Accuracy: Monthly inventory counts match system records within a 5% variance.
