    Job Description

    We’re looking for a Chief of Staff, who is currently located in an Eastern Time location, to join the Office of the CFO. In this highly visible role, you will partner with executives, and senior leaders both within the business and within Finance. As Chief of Staff,  you will have from day one an immediate impact on our CFO’s productivity, streamlining strategic initiatives, overseeing program management, and communicating objectives between departments. You will act as our CFO’s right hand, her trusted advisor.     OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE:

    • Be a multiplier for the CFO in terms of driving organizational efficiency and productivity, optimizing CFO time, and team building within and across each of the teams reporting to the CFO:  Expansion Intelligence, Finance, and Workspace Operations

    • Assist in aligning, executing, and reporting on expected outcomes within the CFO org (e.g., key deliverables to support Shopify)

    • Improve communication and coordination within the CFO org and with key external stakeholders within and outside the company 

    • Review, design, and execute on improvements to org structure, find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Education in Finance, Business Administration or similar field

    • Experience in a business management or advisory role, with strong Finance acumen

    • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments

    • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form

    • Extreme versatility, dedication to productivity and problem solving

    • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives

    • Experience with data analysis

    • Strong project management and reporting skills, with a focus on interdepartmental coordination and communication

    FINANCIAL LITERACY:

    • Understanding of financial analysis and planning, accounting, treasury, and other key Finance functions

    • Project managing board meeting preparation and creation of board meeting materials

    • Running business reviews and analyzing investment opportunities

    • Creating and updating monthly dashboards to track changes in key metrics

    PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:

    • Tracking high priority initiatives for the executive and identifying any obstacles

    • Communicating initiative status to the executive, pulling in other executives or team members as necessary

    • Connecting teams that are working on similar initiatives

    • Pulling together and managing multiple projects and their respective teams; all which require input from multiple areas within the company

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serve as liaison between employees, executives, senior leaders, and CEO, regarding project updates, proposals, and other key areas requiring CFO input

    • Build and develop relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness into existing operations, and help to define new operational strategies, working with CFO and executives on special projects

    • Serve as a subject matter expert, handling inquiries and developing action plans to address them, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communications

    • Manage preparation of CFO presentations, key messages and speaking notes

    • Oversee Office of the CFO and assist with coordination across Expansion Intelligence, Finance, and Workspace Operations; with the majority of time spent assisting with the Finance team and Finance Senior Leadership coordination

    • Organize logistics and agendas for team Town Halls, leadership meetings and off-sites
