Job Description

As Finance Manager supporting Shopify Logistics, you will oversee the development of plans and strategies for new logistics businesses (including Shopify Freight, Parcel, Storage, Prep, & others) playing a key role in measuring profitability,  contributing to pricing strategy, and enabling multiple new businesses to scale effectively. This will require you to partner closely with a broad range of Finance and business leaders across the Operations, Product, and Commercial disciplines, in addition to data scientists and software developers.

To be successful in this role, you should  have prior experience influencing business owners and supporting decision-making in rapidly evolving environments. This role requires a self-starter with strong financial modelling skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively. This role has regular interaction with executives and various cross-functional teams across Shopify Logistics; strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Partner in the development of a growth and pricing strategy for new businesses being launched, provide reporting & analysis, develop a detailed understanding of operational costs, and manage KPIs to assist the business in improving performance

• Provide weekly reporting of business performance and opportunities to drive growth and efficiency

• Develop ad hoc analyses and processes to enable the business to scale efficiently and make data-driven decisions

• Partnership and collaboration across cross-functional working teams to drive change across the organization

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or other quantitative area or other degree with equivalent experience; an MBA or equivalent is desirable

• 7+ years of experience in Finance roles, showing progression in areas of responsibility

• People management experience and proven leadership skills

• Demonstrated ability to make informed business decisions, influence stakeholders, and utilize data to drive results

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities 

• Ability to get into the details and speak to the 10k foot view

• Excellent presentation and communication skills

• Curiosity to learn and a willingness to work on a wide range of projects

• Commitment to fostering constructive dialogues, harmonize conflicting views, resolving issues, and drive decisions

• Experience working with large data sets; proficiency in Excel and SQL, ETL, or equivalent coding skills required

• Knowledge of accounting concepts and principles
