    CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) – CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (PART-TIME)

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Career & Technical Education (CTE) - Career Development Specialist performs a full range of career advising and administrative tasks in support of the Center for Career Development and Experiential Learning at Norwalk community College. The CTE Career Development Specialist will help students develop career readiness skills and expose students who are non-declared or general studies majors to non-traditional careers through multiple events involving faculty, alumni and representatives from business and industry. In addition, the position will support the development of industry partnerships, track hiring trends, manage and publicize job opportunities through online job board, social media, and emails, and assist with managing the Center’s website.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Business, Human Resources, or an appropriately related field with one (1) or more years of experience in either career services or related field.

    THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES IN THE FOLLOWING:

    • Career advising and/or Counseling.
    • Job placement or recruiting skills.
    • Employer Outreach with proven ability to network and form productive professional relationships.
    • Experience with Information technology such as Microsoft Office including Teams, WebEx, Zoom and Career Services Management Software.
    • Social Media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter).
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in online marketing (Constant Contact) and website management.
    • Demonstrated event planning or coordination experience.
    • Proficiency in Career Services Management Software with special consideration for working knowledge of the Symplicity system.

    EXAMPLE OF JOB DUTIES Under the direction of the Director of the Center for Career Development & Experiential Learning or other administrator, the Career & Technical Education (CTE) - Career Development Specialist is accountable for assisting with an array of services including preparing students for employment opportunities, building and expanding relationships with employers across several industry verticals, and cultivating dynamic career networks and meaningful connections for students with alumni and employers, leading to advancement in internship and job opportunities.

    The CTE Career Development Specialist must be flexible and available to work on occasional evenings with adjustment made to their schedule to stay within the maximum 17hrs/week schedule.

    STARTING SALARY $32.14 hourly
