    DESKTOP ENGINEER CONSULTANT

    Windows, VMware, SCCM or APP-V

    NYC based Financial firm is looking for a Consultant to manage and maintain all components of the desktop environment to ensure maximum uptime. Desktop team member responsibilities include: installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all virtual and physical desktops including OS and virtualization configurations to insure optimal performance of the environment. The position also requires application packaging and maintenance using either SCCM or App-V. The person will also document and troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance when required.

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Manage Windows desktop OS which includes Win7 and Win10.
    • Deploy, troubleshoot and update HP and Wyse thin clients.
    • Responsible for building both physical and virtual desktops.
    • A deep technical understanding of PC peripherals and how they integrate with Windows OS (i.e. printers, card readers, USB devices, cameras and other devices.)
    • Understand how to manage desktop permissions via AD, GPO and RES groups.
    • Responsible for patching and updating desktop OSes to the latest patch-levels or versions.
    • Respond to issues involving systems managed by the OS team.
    • Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding all desktop issues.
    • Understand how to manage and configure VMs via VMware VCenter and Horizon,
    • Responsible for troubleshooting application failures on Windows OS.
    • Manage the lifecycle of desktop systems from provisioning stage to sunset stage.
    • Be able to work in a collaborative work environment.
    • Be able to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical teams.
    • Software skills:
    • Windows 7, Windows 10, Task manager, Lakeside and other tools to monitor system performance, MS office suite including Outlook, Visio, trading applications, Acrobat, MS PowerShell scripting, SCCM, APPV, Ivanti AppSense, VMWare VCenter, and VMWare Horizon.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
    • A high level of expertise in hardware including understanding all aspects from power on to power off.
    • The ability to figure out solutions to problems via standard and non-standard methods.
    • High level scripting in multiple languages to be able to create and debug scripts to perform job functions.
    • Organized and methodical troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Hands-on system troubleshooting experience.
    • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation and guides.
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
    • Must be a self-starter. The individual must be able to follow-up from issue to resolution.
