Contract Junior Automation Engineer

Experience Level: 0-2 years

MUST be local to New York City. This position is Hybrid, at least 3 to 4 days in the office.

A leading Foreign Securities Firm is seeking a motivated Junior Automation Engineer to join a small team. This role is ideal for individuals with 0-2 years of experience who are passionate about automation, possess strong skills in Linux Shell scripting and Python programming, and have a keen interest in learning about financial transactions, particularly the FIX protocol.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and streamline processes.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Linux Shell scripting and Python programming language.
• Monitor and troubleshoot automated processes to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• Assist in the design and implementation of automation frameworks and tools.
• Work closely with senior automation engineers to learn and grow in the field of automation.
• Gain exposure to financial markets and FIX protocol through on-the-job training and mentorship.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science
• Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and experience with Shell scripting.
• Proficiency in Python programming language.
• Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Eagerness to learn about financial markets and FIX protocol.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
