    Job Summary

    The Shuttle Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for guests and staff throughout Borealis Basecamp. This role plays a key part in the overall guest experience by ensuring timely arrivals, departures, and transfers across the property.

    Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to safety, and the ability to interact positively with guests from diverse backgrounds.

    All team members at Borealis Basecamp are expected to maintain a team-first mindset, assist across departments when needed, and communicate confidently with guests.

    Key Responsibilities

    Safely transport guests and staff across the Borealis Basecamp property

    Assist with guest arrivals, departures, and luggage handling

    Maintain scheduled transportation routes and ensure timely service

    Provide friendly, professional interaction and assist guests with questions

    Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure safety and proper operation

    Maintain cleanliness and presentation of shuttle vehicles

    Monitor weather and road conditions to ensure safe driving practices

    Communicate effectively with other departments regarding guest movement and scheduling

    Operate vehicles in accordance with all safety policies and procedures

    Support additional operations and perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for for-hire commercial insurance coverage (clean driving record and >26 years old)

    Ability to pass a DOT physical

    Previous winter driving experience in Alaska is required

    Strong communication and customer service skills

    Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

    Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

    Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations

    Preferred Skills

    Experience driving in snow, ice, and extreme weather conditions required

    Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and safety checks

    Experience in hospitality or tourism environments

    Strong situational awareness and decision-making ability

    Physical Demands

    Ability to sit for extended periods while driving

    Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs (luggage and equipment)

    Ability to navigate uneven terrain and assist guests in outdoor conditions

    Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including Arctic cold

    Compensation & Benefits

    End-of-Season Bonus A $1.50 per hour bonus is paid for every hour worked throughout the season to employees who complete the full season. Employees who leave prior to April 12 are not eligible for this bonus.
