    Global Parking Systems (GPS) is the shuttle service provider for the Des Moines International Airport located in Des Moines, Iowa and are experts in the management of parking lots, valet services, parking management and shuttle operations at airports across the country.

    Global Parking Systems Des Moines Operations’ administrative offices are located at 5880 Fleur Drive, Building 6, Des Moines, Iowa.

    Scope of Position

    Shuttle Drivers for this position will operator a CONRAC to transport rental car customers to and from the airport terminal in a safe and timely manner.

    Essential Functions

    To perform the Shuttle Bus Driver position successfully, an individual must be able to perform satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility listed below with little supervision:

    Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspection of the assigned shuttle bus before the start of every shift and immediately report any deficiency to Supervisor On-Duty

    Conduct post-trip vehicle inspection of the assigned shuttle bus at the end of every shift and immediately report any deficiency to Supervisor On-Duty

    Ensure compliance of route schedule

    Maintain cleanliness of shuttle bus interiors, fuel shuttle buses, log trip counts and assist disabled passengers

    Responsible for being at work every scheduled day, on time and in uniform

    Possess a valid state-issued commercial driver’s license to be carried with driver, at all times, while on duty

    Have and maintain an acceptable DMV record

    Courteously assist customers by answering any questions they may have. If necessary, direct the customer to the Supervisor On-Duty for further assistance

    Report any known accidents, observed or suspected violations of company policy, safety hazards or any unusual occurrence to the Supervisor or General Manager

    Communicate debris, water, oil spills, etc. to Supervisor On-Duty

    Have a thorough knowledge of all areas of the garage, thorough knowledge of the major streets, landmarks and freeways in the area of the garage

    Assist customers with luggage and other traveling items, if applicable

    Assist Supervisors with other duties as needed

    Obey all federal, state, and local laws including traffic laws regarding proper operation of shuttle bus

    Work Environment

    The work environmental characteristics described below are representative of those that an individual encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of the Shuttle Bus Driver position:

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

    A Shuttle Bus Driver will be responsible for driving a shuttle bus outside where the temperatures are diverse and the weather is adverse

    Position Status and Availability

    The individual selected for the Shuttle Bus Driver position must be available to work a full-time flexible shift including weekends, holidays and overnight if the primary shift is an overnight shift.

    The garage location, schedule and shift may be subject to change to meet operational and/or client demands and needs.

    Position Requirements

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required for an individual to successfully perform the Shuttle Bus Driver position:

    Strong customer service skills

    Ability to push, pull and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds

    Ability to comply with company policies and procedures

    Ability to speak clearly, write legibly, perform basic calculations and work well other employees

    Willingness to work outside in extreme weather conditions (cold, hot, rainy)

    Consistently arrive at work and on time; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrive at meetings and appointments on time

    Ability to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, write) with customers, co-workers and management to their understanding

    Licenses and Endorsements

    The individual selected for the Shuttle Bus Driver position must possess a state issued CDL with passenger and airbrakes endorsements. The individual selected for the Shuttle Bus Driver position must remain compliant with federal and local CDL requirements and are required to report any situation that may disqualify the individual from having a CDL certification. This includes random alcohol and drug testing and post-accident alcohol and drug testing.

    DOT Medical Card

    The individual selected for the Shuttle Bus Driver position must possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Medical Card) and is required to ensure that the medical card is renewed prior to the expiration date listed on the card.

    Training Courses

    The individual selected for the Shuttle Bus Driver position must possess computer knowledge to ensure completion of online training courses in a timely manner.

    Physical Demands

    Sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle equipment

    Education Requirements

    The individual selected for the Shuttle Bus Driver position must possess a:

    High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)

    At least one (1) year of passenger driving experience

    Prior CDL training or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    Per DOT Regulations, driver will be required to have and maintain a valid state-issued CDL Class A, B or C with Passenger Endorsement and Airbrakes Endorsement
