  • Responsibilities

    Basic Purpose:

    As a member of the Baseline Analytics Center for Enablement, the BI Engineer will focus on rebuilding and migrating dashboards and reports from legacy BI platforms and on-prem data sources to cloud native BI platforms and data sources. The BI Engineer will also provide technical support to enable users to leverage the new BI platforms and aid business users to self-serve and migrate their own dashboards/reports. BI enablement and technical support can include troubleshooting bugs or errors, assisting with data mappings, optimizing dashboard performance, BI semantic layer data modeling, gathering requirements, and creating useful documentation.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work directly with business users to understand data analytics requirements
    • Rebuild and migrate dashboards and reports from legacy BI platforms to Tableau and Power BI
    • Design and develop visually engaging and informative analytics dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for business users and internal stakeholders
    • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and relevance of the data presented
    • Provide self-service enablement for business users on our BI platforms
    • Provide Business Intelligence technical support and troubleshooting for business users
    • Complete source to target data mappings
    • Create BI semantic layer data models in Tableau and Power BI
    • Gather requirements and generate useful documentation
    • Evaluate, develop, and implement analytical techniques and best practices to educate business users
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
    • Significant hands-on experience with Tableau, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Server/Cloud
    • Hands on experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools
    • Strong SQL and relational data modeling skills
    • An analytical mindset with a strong ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights
    • Ability to communicate end to end data outcomes visually and through story telling
    • Ability to manipulate raw data into effective visualizations, reports, and dashboards
    • Experience with data mapping and gathering requirements
    • Team player with enthusiasm for collaboration and continuous learning
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:
    • Master's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
    • Demonstrates a high comfort level speaking in front of large audiences
    • Tableau Certified Data Analyst
    • Tableau Certified Desktop Specialist
    • Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate
    • Programming experience in Python or R
    • Familiarity with foundational machine learning algorithms and concepts, like regression, clustering, and classification
    • Familiarity with shell scripting (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
    • Knowledge of Navy Federal Credit Union instructions, standards, and procedures
