AS A NAMING STRATEGIST AT SIEGEL+GALE, YOU WILL:
Play a supporting role on all of our naming assignments for a wide variety of clients, which includes developing new names as well as portfolio naming strategies and systems. In a nutshell, we solve tricky problems with (very few) words. Examples of the types of naming assignments we work on include:
- New names for products, platforms, companies, features, etc.
- Creative names, descriptive names, and everything in between
- Naming systems that solve for complex relationships between multiple offerings
- Retainer relationships where we help manage extensive portfolios
- Strategic points of view for clients exploring specific naming issues
- Deep explorations with heavy research on naming related topics
You're a great fit for this position if you have:
- A bachelor's degree and 3+ years of branding experience (naming experience is not required, but is a plus)
- Prior experience engaging with clients and/or stakeholders directly, and a desire to further develop client-facing skills
- Prior experience developing persuasive, coherent presentations (examples of past work welcome)
- Genuine creativity and command of language—talent at stretching, twisting, and reinventing words
- Versatile writing skills, from rhetorical logic to snappy copy
- Strong critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and editing skills
- Ability and desire to develop extensive lists of names for every assignment (100+ names in any given day)
- Ability to comprehend and design systems, since one product or service is invariably surrounded by others
- Ability to think on your feet (take criticism, pivot, and respond with a stronger answer)
- An open and collaborative approach to work
