    Position Overview:

    As a Material Management Specialist -- 1st Shift, you will play a crucial role in our production facility. Working under minimal supervision, you will be responsible for efficiently moving materials throughout the facility while adhering to company policies and operational processes. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, you will contribute to the smooth operation of our manufacturing process.

    First Shift: 6:30am – 3:00pm

    What you'll be doing:

    As a Material Management Specialist -- 1st Shift, you will be responsible for pulling, preparing, and staging job materials in assigned manufacturing work cells or staging areas. This includes loading and unloading materials onto transports and trucks, as well as assisting with rigging of material on the manufacturing floor and trucks using equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts. You will also be responsible for removing and disposing of packing, scrap, material, skids, and cardboard in various areas of the manufacturing facility, storeroom, and receiving area.

    Focus on Inventory Control:

    • Effectively communicate with the Supervisor and peers
    • Pull and issue parts for shop order kits
    • Distribute shop orders to the floor upon completion
    • Maintain all empty bins by refilling from overstock
    • Update overflow location counts in spreadsheets
    • Update material location in spreadsheets for parts

    Focus on Shipping:

    • Pull all material for shipping kits for shop orders
    • Order all work cell supplies
    • Print labels for bags and boxes for materials
    • Communicate with the Supervisor and peers for departing shipments
    • Ship all material for customer orders, Repaired Materials (RMAs), and other miscellaneous shipments
    • Record all Serial Numbers (S/Ns) for products and provide them to Customer Service for generation of Pack slip
    • Arrange UPS/FedEx shipments for pick-up
    • Place orders for all shipping material supplies
    • Coordinate with Quality before any shipments leave the dock (All packing slips MUST be verified by Quality prior to the truck being called)
    • Schedule all trucks to pick up shipments
    • Order all work cell and packing supplies

    Focus on Receiving:

    • Sign in and receive all materials before the end of the day, then take them to the correct place in the stockroom
    • Check all materials for correct and matching part numbers
    • Clearly label all materials before placing them in the stockroom
    • Effectively communicate with Quality inspection regarding material status
    • Place all non-conforming materials on Red Tagged shelves
    • Fill shortages for shop floor orders
    • Run reports for allocation of shortages and provide them to Team leaders
    • Sign for all material entering the building, including RMAs (Notify RMA department)
    • Perform housekeeping and 5S activities
    • Adhere to all Siemens safety and work practices by keeping work area orderly at all times
    • Ensure work area is accessible and safe for internal employees and customer traffic
    • Inspect inbound/outbound shipments for damage and compare them to packing lists and bills of lading to ensure accuracy
    • Identify and communicate any discrepancies or questionable conditions related to the task at hand
    • Assist with cycle counts and navigate the MRP system
    • Maintain Heijunka board with current counts daily
    • Perform cycle counts as required
    • Process basic non-inventory purchase order receipts
    • Show competency in the use of the MRP system
    • Use Kanban methodology to enhance team efficiency
    • Work overtime as required
    • Frequently lift objects weighing 10-35 pounds
    • Perform cross-functional duties as assigned

    What you'll need to succeed:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Knowledge of material flow and storage locations to ensure materials are properly managed
    • Strong multitasking skills
    • Intermediate computer skills
    • Ability to use MRP system to track inventory
    • Excellent organization and time management skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Basic math skills
    • Strong problem-solving abilities
