We are the contractor of choice for residential system integration services with several local and regional home builders in the Northern Virginia area. Control 4 Technicians work in teams to install and activate home automation systems, audio and video distribution, security alarm systems, and other low voltage systems.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    •Prepare, install, and troubleshoot complex electronic home automation systems featuring Control 4 products

    •Read and interpret electronic circuit diagrams, system specifications, engineering drawings, and service manuals

    •Monitor scheduled projects and maintain well-organized project records using email and a proprietary electronic record keeping system

    •Confer with customers to determine system programming requirements

    •Instruct customers on the safe and proper use of equipment

    •Tune or adjust equipment and instruments for optimum system performance, according to specifications, manuals, and drawings

    •Compute cost estimates for labor and materials; enter estimates and invoices in a proprietary software system

    •Learn and follow communication protocols when encountering obstacles to completing assigned work

    •Demonstrate genuine effort and personal pride in the assigned duties each day

    •Perform other related duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    •Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services

    •Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming

    •Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology

    •Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

    •Ability to read and interpret technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

    •Troubleshooting and complex problem-solving

    •Verbal and written communication; reading comprehension

    •Active listening and active learning

    •Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications

    •Time management

    •Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble electronic components

    •Visual color discrimination

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    •Two years of professional experience with installation/programming of Control 4 systems onsite in residential settings

    •Advanced troubleshooting experience with Control 4 products

    •Daily commute to our offices in Sterling, VA

    •Ability to work Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with one hour break; occasional overtime required depending on daily project schedule

    •Ability to pass a background check to obtain Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) license

    •Have reliable transportation and good driving record

    •Professional demeanor and appearance

    •Ability to interact with clients in a professional manner

    •Own and have the ability to use an industry standard tool set

    •Excellent written communication, including spelling, grammar, and the ability to type

    •Ability to lift at least 50 pounds without assistance

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    •Five years of hands-on residential audiovisual system integration experience in technical roles

    •Control 4, CEDIA, and/or other relevant industry certifications such as PCNA, ESC, etc.
