POSITION SUMMARY
As a staff level position in the Operations department, the Quality Assurance & Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Specialist will administer and analyze traceability for recall preparation through customer complaint tracking for Sigma labeled products (FUD) from the initial complaint to Quality Alert Determination. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with FSMA policies and standards for all CEDIs/CADIs and DSD locations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Administers and coordinates the traceability process for Quality Complaints from Customer Complaint to Quality Alert for product recall preparation for all CEDIs, CADIs, and DSD locations, serving as the primary contact for all complaint issues
- Investigates and recommends new types of Quality Assurance related equipment and technologies
- Supports and trains staff on Quality issues, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Housekeeping, & Pest Control, and FSMA training at assigned location(s)
- Assists leadership with program updates by acting in a consultant role, providing key information and guidance on changes in FSMA compliance
- Obtains updated SQF code and FSMA compliance standards; communicate changes to leadership and staff; attends FSPCA training and FSMA implementation courses
- Tracks trends, complaint type, frequency, lot code, and establishment; conducts statistical analysis and outlier identification of QA data; makes recommendations to leadership; implements new processes and/or procedures
- Arranges recall and expired goods product pick up with third party vendor
- Maintains FSMA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSVP) for import products in collaboration with Innovation Teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Business or related field
- One (1) year of experience with Food Quality and Food Safety distribution issues
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years of experience in Food Safety or Food Science
- Experience with SAP
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient Microsoft Word and Excel Skills
- Ability to conduct training at all employee levels
- Strong verbal communications skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone
