Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Sign Designer & Project Manager to support both the creative and operational sides of our business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats—designing signage, managing projects from concept to completion, coordinating vendors, and assisting with light fabrication and production tasks. This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Pre-Production

Create sign layouts, shop drawings, and client proofs using software such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or similar

Prepare artwork for production (vinyl, ADA signage, large format printing, etc.)

Interpret architectural plans and develop sign schedules

Ensure designs meet ADA and local code requirements when applicable

Project Management

Manage projects from sale through completion using systems like SignTracker

Coordinate with clients, general contractors, and vendors

Order materials and outsource fabrication as needed

Track timelines, budgets, and deliverables

Schedule installations and communicate updates to all stakeholders

Production & Fabrication Support

Assist with light fabrication tasks (vinyl application, sign assembly, packaging)

Operate or assist with large format printers/plotters (preferred but not required)

Perform quality checks on outgoing products

Help prep jobs for installation crews

Administrative & Operational Support

Maintain organized project files and documentation

Assist with estimating and proposal preparation when needed

Help improve internal workflows and processes as DSS grows

Qualifications

Required

Experience in graphic design (sign industry preferred but not required)

Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (CorelDRAW is a plus)

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred (Not Required but Valuable)

Familiarity with ADA signage standards

Experience reading architectural plans

Experience with SignTracker or similar project management tools

Hands-on fabrication or production experience
