    POSITION: JUNIOR UNDERWRITER

    REPORTS TO: UNDERWRITING MANAGER

    DEPARTMENT: UNDERWRITING

    LOCATION: BURBANK, CA (TEMPORARILY REMOTE)

    STATUS: FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPT

    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are in search of a responsible, team-oriented, and motivated JUNIOR UNDERWRITER to join our Underwriting Team!

    The ideal candidate pays attention to detail, has an ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and can learn new systems quickly and effectively. The ideal candidate also has excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work within a team and can work well in a fast-paced environment. Must be proficient in using computer programs, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

     

    POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    · Enter new applications into our proprietary system

    · Onboard new merchants to the back-end platforms (TSYS & FDR)

    · Perform due diligence searches on merchants

    · Review merchant applications in a timely and efficient manner

    · Have a strong understanding of the KYC and FinCEN beneficial ownership requirements

    · Read and analyze credit reports, merchant processing statements, bank statements, and financial statements to determine merchant’s ability to support the exposure associated with their business type and requested parameters

    · Identify fraudulent merchant applications through analysis and by utilizing internal and external underwriting tools

    · Communicate with sales agents and the banks to resolve all pending items required for approval of the application

    · Understand the risks involved with various business models

    · Maintain understanding of current, new, and emerging fraud and risk trends within the industry

    · Assist with department or company projects

     

    IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE/HAVE:

    · 3 years of experience in credit card processing industry or position related to underwriting

    · Underwriting experience in payments or finance industry preferred

    · Able to type 75+ WPM

    · Excellent listening, face to face, and verbal communication skills

    · Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently in a rapidly changing environment

    · Ability to work independently and exercise initiative and good judgment

    · Effective and comprehensive computer skills, including Microsoft Office or equivalent (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

    · Must have the ability to use or adapt to new computer programs, software, equipment, and/or hardware

    · High school diploma or equivalent

     

    COMPENSATION RANGE

    Pay is commensurate with prior experience, education, and abilities.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    As a JUNIOR UNDERWRITER, you will regularly be required to: work at a desk, conference table and work at a computer for extended periods of time. You will be frequently required to walk, sit, stand, and occasionally may be required to lift up to 10 pounds unassisted.
