** Job Description: Automation Process Specialist
**
The Automation Process Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and operation of controls and automation equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. This role involves troubleshooting, conducting program backups, and implementing system upgrades. The Automation Process Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including safety, quality, engineering, and production, to provide technical guidance. Additionally, they will assist in training and mentoring other members of the maintenance team and technical staff at Silgan.
** Job Responsibilities:
**
- Install, start-up, and maintain high-volume automated production machinery.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve automation issues with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Peripheral Interface Devices (PIDs).
- Apply expertise in PLC programming to design and control automated equipment.
- Perform changeovers on auxiliary equipment as required.
- Offer assistance and support to colleagues, proactively stepping in when needed.
- Develop proficiency in multiple job functions to enhance versatility and contribute to the team's success.
- Demonstrate personal accountability, promptly addressing problems and taking appropriate action.
- Exceed expectations, consistently going above and beyond to support team members.
- Adhere to company standards for work conduct and safety inspections of equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety policies and procedures.
- Complete assigned duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
** Education/ Previous Experience:
**
- Minimum of 3 years of maintenance and/or automation work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in PLCs and panel building.
- Experience with robotics and the setup/modification of programs.
- Knowledge of general electronics, mechanics, and pneumatics.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical issues.
- Ability to troubleshoot and re-conceptualize mechanisms.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Willingness to support other cross-functional groups as needed.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Analyze, interpret, and report data on machine performance.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Adaptability to changing business needs and a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
** Physical Requirements:
**
- Frequent lifting and/or moving of weights up to 35 lbs.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination, and grasping.
Salary info:
$21 - $27 / hr
