Essential duties and responsibilities:

Write software to assist inspection activities.
Research and look at instructions such as drawings, sketches, models, instructions, and visualized items to decide the materials/machines required to create components.
Sets up and runs machines such as CMMs, lathes, milling device, EDMs, pantograph, and grinders to fabricate components and verify compliance of parts to specifications
Construct accessories where no plan is accessible to identify metal flow in dies, pick tolerances and do difficult developmental work.
Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining
Examines dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures and advises design modifications regarding construction and function of parts
Understand how to heat treat tools and machined parts
Knowledge of how to take apart, put together, and operate an injection mold.
Wipe molds/parts using applicable cleaning materials within the department
Identify and switch/repair parts on the mold that are defective.
Fit up cores, cavities, ejector pins, and moving parts within a .0005" tolerance.
Works to extremely close tolerances, often within .0001."
Confirms dimensions, alignments, and clearances of parts and tooling.
Attach wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components.
Efficiently document and record repairs and data about appointed jobs.
Contact external suppliers for quotes on spare components and stock upon arrival.
Maintain applicable folders around vendors, molds, spare components, and tooling as required.
Inspect fresh and reconditioned mold components and tooling.
Carry out inventory control functions.
Allot tasks while conducting ongoing training around apprentices/utilities while overseeing their work.
Must comply with all rules and policies.
