    The Software QA Engineer is responsible for writing and building tests to ensure rapid feedback and quality of systems and code. Specific duties include writing test cases, building automation, and owning the systems and integrations required to build a modern DevOps environment. Other tasks include building test automation processes, developing and running new tests, reporting on the results and collaborating with software engineering to fix program issues. The position will contribute to designing, developing, testing, and monitoring projects from concept through implementation. The position will support the next generation of lending and fintech client experiences which will improve productivity, competitiveness, and deliver compelling customer experiences in line with Silvergate’s core values.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    GENERAL

    • Participate in all aspects of the Agile Scrum software development lifecycle to start writing and building quality tests early and deliver rapid feedback
    • Perform quality assurance testing and suggest solutions to identified product problems
    • Build, organize and execute test automation using TestComplete and Postman
    • Collaborate with the team to continuously find ways to integrate automated testing into Azure DevOps processes and CI/CD pipelines
    • Work with the software engineering team to manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline
    • Review and organize Microfocus FoD SAST/DAST findings analyzing bugs and errors found during tests
    • Work with the engineering team to design and create ongoing tests to identify bugs as well as to surface key observability metrics identifying overall system health and performance
    • Relying on careful observation, test current products identifying code deficiencies
    • Apply creative problem-solving skills to refine new systems and troubleshoot issues
    • Document test cases, risk analysis and results of tests for review with project management and the software engineering team
    • Drive innovation and streamline overall testing processes
    • Research new tools, technologies, and testing processes
    • Recommend improvements software to enhance end user experience
    • Investigate product quality in order to make improvements to achieve better customer satisfaction
    • Contribute to planning, creating and managing the overall Quality Planning strategy
    • Identify Quality Assurance process bottlenecks and suggest actions for improvement
    • Identify and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for product quality.
    • Prepare and present reports and metrics to project management and engineering teams
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and achievement of Quality objectives
    • Proactively develop and maintain technical knowledge in specialized area(s), remaining up-to-date on current trends and best practices; leverage expertise to produce solutions that utilize industry standards and facilitate exceptional performance
    • Perform application maintenance and support functions to support problem resolution, willingness to be a utility and team player
    • Maintain a working knowledge of core banking functions, processes, and operations
    • Maintain updated knowledge of industry trends and advancements
    • Maintain current knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations, along with the Bank’s policies and procedures

    DECISION MAKING

    • Evaluate, recommend, and implement process improvements and coding methodologies while considering current technological assets and the bank’s technology roadmap
    • Routinely evaluate and recommend technical solutions to customer and business needs and opportunities that may be addressed through Silvergate’s API
    • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders for a thorough understanding of project functionality and implement with simplest code possible while maintaining stability, performance, and ease of maintenance
    • Ability to offer opinions on the Bank’s development technology roadmap

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred and at least 4+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in areas of Information Systems, Computer Science, or mathematics is preferred
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic experience working with a Microsoft based develop stack: .NET, C#, Visual Studio, MS SQL Server, xml and database modeling/design
    • The ideal candidate will have prior experience with testing REST, SOAP, HTTPS, and various web-services using Postman, Microfocus or similar testing tools
    • The ideal candidate would have knowledge of modern development methodologies (Agile, SCRUM)
    • The ideal candidate would have experience with Selenium based tools such as Test Complete or similar as well as API based tools such as Postman
    • Experience with cloud development and API Management, Azure experience is a plus
    • Experience diagnosing, reporting, tracking and resolving user experience issues originating from multiple code bases. In other words, skills to systematically analyze situations and issues, identify options, draw logical conclusions and sound inferences, determine and recommend practical courses of action using innovation, creativity, good judgment and strategic thinking
    • Demonstrated tenacity for not giving up on challenges, technical or other
    • Experience with core banking systems, core banking middleware, and a thorough knowledge of FFIEC development standards is a plus
    • Able to thrive in an innovative environment with daily challenges and opportunities
    • Self-sufficient, accountable and reliable

    BANK SECRECY ACT REQUIREMENTS

    Responsible for adhering to the reporting and recordkeeping requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering rules and regulations, observing economic sanctions by prohibiting transactions as specified by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), following the Company’s customer identification program (CIP) rules, observing all Company policies and procedures relating to BSA, OFAC, CIP, and related acts, and participation in ongoing related training.
